New Orleans, April 2018
Recently, the Housing Innovation Alliance hosted their annual Alliance Innovation Summit in New Orleans, Louisiana. This year, the team of YTWO Formative delivered an educational speech centered on Building Information Modeling’s (BIM) prominent and rising role in project management to key homebuilding stakeholders, thought leaders, and decision-making executives. The Summit is a unique event where housing innovators and disruptors freely exchange best business practices on sustainability and discuss the future of the housing industry. Through table discussions, Doug Harmon, YTWO Formative Business Development Director, and Mickey Carr collaborated with key players in the homebuilding industry to confront recurring issues surrounding labor shortages, construction inefficiencies, information silos, and the drawbacks in current project management.
Mickey Carr speaks at the Alliance Innovation Summit on BIM technology.
The construction industry, particularly the residential community, is lagging behind on the software and the technology adoption curve that directly optimizes value chain operations and processes. These shortcomings in developments translate into a burdensome snowball effect on homebuilders’ bottom line and transfers to their end user.
Betsy Scott, Executive Director, Chief Collaborator of the Housing Innovation Alliance says the Alliance Innovation Summit attracts housing leaders who advocate for the technological advancement in the residential industry. One of the key goals is to bring innovation-minded companies, housing providers, innovation enablers, and manufacturers to the roundtable and discuss how to create sustainable practices for the housing industry.
